This is Ryan from Dachshund, and of course I wanna tell you to come see us play on Wed. 4/29 at Hunt Club — but the fact is, you already know us.
So let me instead tell you about our friends from Savannah, GA, whose name is actually *.*, but to avoid confusion they usually write it out, “Star Period Star.” They’re committed to a kind of progressive-rock that owes much to the likes of Yes and King Crimson (and all the technical-proficiency that implies), but which also contains echoes of such quirky indie-rock bands as Guided By Voices. It’s really fun, zigzagging, angular stuff with a cosmic/mystical lyrical bent. These guys will be stopping in Tulsa for one night only, on their spring tour from Savannah to Colorado and back.
So hey, I know Wednesday nights aren’t exactly easy “goin’-out” nights for many of you. But this was the day they were gonna be in town, and we wanted to play a show for y’all. If you’re in the mood for some fun tunes that aren’t afraid to defy the tyrrany of the mainstream — haha! — then come out and have a good time with us on April 29!
Being that it is a weeknight, we’ll probably start around 9pm so you don’t have to stay out so late… ya babies!
