Did you miss our CD-Release party last week at The Hunt Club? Don’t be sad! No! Because…

Here, for your listening pleasure:  Nearly the entire set from our 11/10/11 CD-Release Party at The Hunt Club.

I say “nearly” because I forgot to start the recorder until our third song.  (For the record, we started the set with “The Ballad of Shorty Long” and “Sleep Tight.”)

Perhaps because The Big O Show was opening, we decided to start with some of our softer and more upbeat material… before making a sharp left turn into “Ichabod” after “Gary.” We continued to pull this trick throughout the evening, shifting between our poppier songs and our weirder songs, trying to play-up the contrasts in our material. Also, in an effort to minimize guitar-changes and time spent re-tuning between songs, we put all our “E” songs in the first set, took a break after “Nothing to Say,” then came back and played a short “D” set.

The most hilarious part of the show came after “Nothing To Say,” when this table of drunk guys started giving us a hard time, yelling “WEEZER!” I guess they thought we sounded like Weezer, and so they figured if they gave us a hard enough time, we’d oblige with a Weezer cover. I think they were surprised when I hollered back, “Fuck Weezer!” Honestly, I thought somebody in the band knew those guys, and figured that’s why they were giving us a hard time. So I was just retorting in kind. It turned out they didn’t know anyone in the band; they were just these guys who happened to come out to The Hunt Club that night. I guess they liked our set; they stuck around ’til the end, even though we never did play any Weezer covers.
