Two very new tracks from our 9/24/2011 show at Chelsea’s in Eureka Springs. This was the third of 3 shows played over the course of 2 days — one in Tulsa at the Hunt Club on the evening of 9/23, one at an outdoor festival in Eureka Springs around 2pm on 9/24, and the third at Chelsea’s that same evening. The Chelsea’s set was our tightest-sounding of the three, and the acoustics of their large room lent our music a very nice, expansive sound.
I recorded the show on my Zoom H4n handheld recorder, which was positioned near the back of the room, at a spot recommended to me by the sound-guy. Other than the fact that my recorder cut off the very first second or so of each track, these recordings sound amazing!
I haven’t previously posted “Gary” in any form, here or elsewhere, so this is its online debut! It’s a song about a difficult friendship. It’s one of our newer tunes, and will likely be on our next album.
I did once post a very early demo of “Landlocked State” on our MySpace page (I think it’s still up, actually). But this live version sounds so much better, it almost feels like a different song. This one’s about growing up in a place that perhaps isn’t so good for you. Another tune that will likely be on our next album.
